Us retailer Kroger has opened its first Smith's Express store, reports www.Planetretail.com. The combonation fuel station and convenience store features snacks, fountain beverages, tobacco products, ice, beer, auto needs, as well as top-selling grocery and non-foods items. The first store is located in Sugar House, Utah and a second store is planned for Salt Lake City this month.
Smith's Food & Drug operates 132 stores and 62 gas stations in seven Western states, including 47 stores and 35 gas stations in Utah.
Editors Note: Kroger is one of the leading c-store operators in the U.S. with 755 stores operating under five different regional c-store banners across the country. The new Smith's Express store is its sixth c-store banner. Many of its c-store banners also stock Kroger store brand products. For more information, see the cover story in the PL Jan-Feb 2010 issue. |
