The Hong Kong-based buying office of Swiss retailer Migros has signed a contract with software provider Core Solutions, to implement a product lifecycle management (PLM) system, to improve the sourcing of private labelled products to Migros' stores, according to www.planetretail.com. The retailer's private label share is between 90-95% and a large part of the products are planned and/or produced by Migros itself. With the new PLM system, the retailer aims to unify the sourcing process and setup the operation for scalability and efficiency to meet the demands of the continuing growth, said Sacha Waegeli, Managing Director of Migros (Hong Kong) Ltd.
The PLM system from Core Solutions links all processes from concept development to order confirmation together, so that information can be shared across processes with real time visibility. This means that information such as product specification, customers, vendors, compliance, material, fabric, component and cost can be captured, communicated and shared through a central integrated system, accessible via an internet browser. With the system, the retailer can also give suppliers access to this information. |
